Jewellery 

 We have an extremely wide variety of ethnic jewellery from Nepal, Bali and Afghanistan.

Much of our jewellery is highly individual and thus difficult to catalogue. It ranges from old and new tribal jewellery from Afghanistan and Nepal, semi-precious stones from Afghanistan and Nepal, beadwork from Nepal, wood and shell jewellery from Bali and fine silver jewellery also from Bali. On this page is shown a selection of our jewellery available to view at the gallery. If you click on the buttons to the right  there are various ranges  that we have catalogued. However, some of the pictures are just a guide.

Our Afghan jewellery is largely highly decorative tribal pieces containing much Lapis Lazuli and Carnelean semi-precious stones and ranges from some large antique pieces to modern day contemporary costume jewellery.

   Nepalese bead work

This bead work is made by a co-operative in Nepal. The beads are imported from Czechoslovakia. The co-operative, which was established in 1993, provides free training in weaving, embroidery and bead work for local women. This in turn allows the women to enhance their economic condition in a country which is desperately poor and traditionally does not encourage women to be the wage earner in the family. The co-operative has successfully trained about 8000 women, and provides regular home based employment for over 500 women.

 
Nepalese semi-precious bead jewellery

This traditional Nepalese jewellery includes turquiose, coral, peridot, lapis, moonstone, tiger eye, goldstone, garnet, jade, malachite, carnelian, amerthyst, onyx, agate, aventurine, quartz, river pearl and many more.
Each design may be available in many of the above and in many diffrent combinations but is subject to availability.

Balinese Jewellery 

Our Balinese jewellery is of a more organic nature being lagrely made from wood, shell , stone and leather and of a very high quality.
We also have a very wide range of fine Balinese silver rings, earrings, brooches and bangles which are available to see at the gallery.
